Buttoning Frame With Small Buttons is the second step in the buttoning sequence. The smaller buttons ask for a precise pincer grip and for both hands to work together, so the child moves through the row button by button. One hand holds the edge of the fabric while the other pushes the button through the slit, and the frame is then opened again and closed, so it is left exactly as it was found. A button that has slipped out of its slit leaves the two halves uneven, which the child sees and puts right without being told. It belongs on a practical life shelf for children from three years who already want to dress themselves.
“The greatest sign of success for a teacher is to be able to say, 'The children are now working as if I did not exist.'”
