Place the puzzle on a low table or work mat at the child's eye level. Ensure all 5 pieces are removed and arranged to the right of the puzzle board in random order.

Sit beside the child and slowly demonstrate grasping one knob between your thumb and fingers
Exaggerate your pincer grasp movement to make it visible - 2
Lift the piece and hover it over the puzzle board, showing how to scan for the matching space
Move deliberately slowly to allow the child to track your movements - 3
When you find the correct space, slowly lower the piece, adjusting as needed before releasing
If it doesn't fit immediately, lift and try a different angle rather than forcing - 4
Once one piece is demonstrated, invite the child to try with the remaining pieces
Resist the urge to correct - allow the child to discover through experimentation - 5
When complete, admire the finished dog image together before removing pieces one by one
Remove pieces in reverse order to prepare for the next use
