The turtle puzzle from the zoology series, separating into the parts of a turtle. A turtle is the animal whose body is mostly hidden by the one part everybody can name: the shell is what a child draws, and the head, the limbs and the tail are what the shell is for. Taking it apart reverses that, putting the concealed parts on the table and leaving the shell as one piece among several rather than the whole animal. Plywood with non toxic paint, for ages 3 to 6.

How to present it

Place the puzzle on a work mat with all pieces assembled. Sit to the child's right if they are right-handed (left if left-handed). Ensure good lighting to highlight the shell's spiral patterns.
