Baric Tablets look almost identical yet differ in weight, and the child compares them with the eyes closed, resting one on each set of fingertips. Sight gives nothing away here, so only the baric sense can sort them, which is why the work is done blindfolded. Pairing and grading the tablets sharpens a sense children rarely use on purpose and brings in the words heavy, light and lighter. Suitable from about three years, once the tactile boards are familiar.
