Bells Keyboards give the Montessori bells a place to stand: a keyboard laid flat, with every note marked where its bell belongs. The child carries one bell at a time and sets it on the place that matches it, hearing the pitch and seeing where it sits in the scale, so listening and reading music grow together. A bell left in the wrong place stands over a mark meant for another note, which a child notices while playing up the row rather than being told. Once the scale stands in order the same row carries the next steps, naming the notes, singing them and finding one bell again by its sound alone.
