Cylinder Block No. 1

Cylinder Block No. 1 holds a row of knobbed cylinders in a solid wooden base, each one taller and wider than the one before it. The child lifts every cylinder by its knob, compares it by eye and returns it to the only socket that takes it, so the material shows the mistake without an adult saying a word. The knob prepares the three-finger writing grip, which makes this block a natural first step in the sensorial area from age three.
