Fabric Box holds pairs of fabrics that differ in surface and weave. The child feels two pieces at a time, usually with the eyes covered, and lays each matching pair side by side, so touch leads the work and sight only checks it afterwards. Begin with fabrics that contrast strongly and bring in closer weaves as the fingers grow more discriminating. Pairing is followed by naming, which gives the child words such as rough, smooth or soft. Sensorial work for children from three years.
“The child is both a hope and a promise for mankind.”
