Inset Paper, 14 x 14 cm, 500 sheets

Inset Paper measures 14 by 14 cm and comes in a pack of 500 sheets, exactly the format used for work with the metal insets. One child gets through a surprising number of sheets, because each outline is traced, filled with strokes and then begun again in another colour. The square leaves space around the traced shape for a border, a second inset laid over the first or a run of patterns, which is how tracing grows into design and into the pencil control writing later asks for. A full supply on the shelf means the work never stops for want of paper. A refill for the classroom and for home.
