Multiplication Working Charts

The Multiplication Working Charts carry a child from looking every product up to recalling it unaided. The first charts show all the results and serve as control, the later ones give away less and less, until only the problem remains and the answer has to come from memory. A child draws a problem slip, writes the product from memory and turns to the full chart to check it, so the correction comes from the material and not from the teacher. Working through the sequence in this order, a child from three years learns the tables by use rather than by drill.
