Pencil tray

The Pencil tray keeps pencils together in one place the child can carry, put down and return to the shelf without help. Carrying it level with both hands is a small exercise in itself, and once it is on the table the tray marks out where the work belongs and where everything goes back at the end. A fixed home for every tool is part of the prepared environment: the child sees at a glance whether the set is complete and learns to close a piece of work by tidying it away. Useful from three years at the writing and drawing shelf, and just as usable on a desk at home.
