Safety Pin Frame

The Safety Pin Frame is a fastening frame from the practical life area, where the child opens and closes real safety pins on fabric. Working from the top pin down, the child releases each one, draws the cloth apart and then pins the row shut again, so the frame is left exactly as it was found. The precise pincer grip it demands prepares the hand for writing and teaches patience with slow, careful work. A pin that was not properly closed shows itself at once, because the cloth falls open where it should hold. Suitable for children from about three years who already manage simpler frames with buttons or snaps.
