Ten numerals is a small set and that is exactly why it needs a box: a set of ten is small enough to be tidied into the wrong place, mixed with the sandpaper letters, or reduced to nine without anyone noticing until a child reaches for the seven. Place the box on a low shelf at the child's eye level. Arrange sandpaper numerals 0-9 in sequential order within the box, ensuring each numeral faces the same direction.
