Sandpaper NumeralsInternational Version (GAM)

Sandpaper Numerals in the international version present each figure as a rough shape on a smooth board. The child traces the numeral with two fingers in the direction of writing and hears its name at the same moment, so hand, eye and ear take in the sign together. The rough surface ends exactly where the figure ends, so a finger that strays onto the smooth board feels the slip and finds its way back without being corrected. Laid out later and matched to quantities, the boards tie each written sign to the amount it stands for. The material follows the number rods and opens the way to writing figures, for children from three years.
