Sound Boxes hold pairs of closed cylinders that a child shakes one at a time to find the two that sound alike. The task can only be solved by listening, so the ear learns to hold a sound in memory, compare it with the next and finally grade the cylinders from the softest to the loudest. The work invites repetition, and a child listens again and again until each pair is certain. A classic of sensorial education for children from three years.
“Children display a universal love of mathematics, which is par excellence the science of precision, order, and intelligence.”
