Tasting Exercise

The Tasting Exercise isolates the one sense a classroom rarely reaches: taste. An adult prepares the solutions, the child tastes a drop, rinses and then looks for the matching pair, sweet to sweet, salty to salty, sour and bitter in the same way. Because everything is prepared in pairs, a glass left over at the end says on its own that two of them were matched wrongly. Naming follows the sensation, so a word like bitter attaches to something the tongue already knows. For children from three years, always with freshly prepared solutions.
