Unit Division Board

The Unit Division Board shows division for what it really is: sharing a quantity out fairly. The child sets the divisor along the top and then deals out one bead at a time until the supply is gone, reading the answer from a single row. The remainder loses its mystery too, since it is simply what could not be shared equally. Repeating the same quantity with one divisor after another turns the board into a way of seeing which numbers share out evenly and which never do, and the results can be written down as soon as the child wants a record.
