Velcro Frame

Velcro Frame isolates a single everyday fastening so a child can practise it away from the rush of getting dressed. Opening and closing the hook-and-loop strip strengthens the hand, trains a controlled pincer grip and settles the habit of working from left to right. The work checks itself, because a strip pressed down crookedly does not hold and the child feels it give way without anyone saying so. It belongs in the practical life corner from age three and is usually the first frame offered, since the fastening answers immediately, and the same left to right sequence carries over later to buttons, buckles and laces.
