Wash Stand And Scrub-Board

Wash Stand And Scrub-Board turns hand laundry into a complete piece of practical life work. The child carries the water, wets the cloth, rubs it against the board, rinses it, wrings it out and hangs it up before emptying the basin and wiping the stand down for whoever comes next. Rubbing, rinsing and wringing a small piece of fabric builds grip strength, teaches both hands to work together and holds a long chain of steps in the right order. A puddle on the floor or a cloth still dripping tells the child what has been missed, without an adult having to say it. Suitable from three years, in a prepared classroom or a home corner where the child washes and then tidies the place up again.
