Printed Numerals: International Version

Printed Numerals in the international version give a child the written figures in the shapes used across continental Europe. They are laid beside quantities, next to spindles, counters or bead bars, so the symbol meets the amount it stands for instead of being learned in the abstract. The figures are put in order first and only then paired with the amounts, which is what makes a miscount show up on its own: the quantity beside a symbol is either short or over. This is the quiet step between counting out loud and writing numbers down, for children from three years.
