Repair Paint in a child's hands
A bottle of the Nienhuis special mix repair paint in red, with a small brush in the lid. Red covers more material than any other colour in the room: the red rods, the red half of the number rods, red knobs and red inset frames, and on the rods in particular a worn edge is not cosmetic, because the whole point of the material is that ten pieces look like one family. Seven colours plus varnish and thinner are available, each a separate item.
