What the child does
Rough And Smooth Boards Set (GAM) in a child's hands
Rough And Smooth Boards Set opens tactile work with the sharpest contrast the sense of touch can offer: one surface rough, one smooth, nothing else competing for attention. The child washes and dries the hands, closes the eyes and lets the fingertips travel lightly across each board, learning to trust what the skin alone reports and to name it. From age three the set prepares the delicate touch that the sandpaper letters will later ask for.
