Smooth Gradation Board (GAM)

The Smooth Gradation Board grades surfaces from coarser to finer, so the sorting is done by the fingertips and not by the eyes. A child slides a light hand along each strip, usually blindfolded, and puts the sensations into a series from one end to the other. The order is checked by touching back along the finished row, feeling whether every step really is smoother than the one before it. Touch isolated in this way sharpens exactly the discrimination that later carries the sandpaper letters. For children from three years.
