About

Premium tempera paint in pink, 500 ml, from the range mixed to the colours of the Montessori materials. Pink is a tint rather than a primary, which is exactly what makes it interesting to have in a bottle: a child can mix red and white towards it and compare, and the comparison is a lesson in how much white a colour needs. Pink is also the tower and the three of the bead material. Water based, short drying time. The other colours are separate items.

Children display a universal love of mathematics, which is par excellence the science of precision, order, and intelligence.

The Montessori Method

The flip-top tempera paint bottle serves a dual purpose in Montessori environments: cultivating independence and enabling authentic artistic expression.

  • Develops pincer grip strength through controlled squeezing of flip-top bottle
  • Builds understanding of cause and effect through paint dispensing and color mixing
  • Enhances visual discrimination by observing subtle changes when pink mixes with other hues
  • Strengthens hand-eye coordination through precise paint application techniques
Read More

When children grasp the pink tempera bottle and press to dispense paint, they practice the pincer grip essential for later writing while making conscious decisions about quantity and placement. The vibrant pink pigment invites exploration of color relationships - mixing with yellow to create coral, with blue for violet, or with white for delicate pastels. This particular bottle design eliminates the need for adult assistance in paint distribution, allowing children to focus entirely on their creative process. The tempera's smooth consistency responds predictably to brush movements, providing immediate visual feedback that connects the child's hand movements to artistic outcomes. Unlike pre-mixed colors in palettes, individual tempera bottles like this pink one allow children to experience color as a material they can control, measure, and transform through their own deliberate actions.

Activity Guide

How to present it

Follow the Montessori method of presentation for optimal child development.

5 steps to mastery
Preparation

Place pink tempera bottle on art tray with small palette, water jar, brush, and paper. Include white and one primary color for mixing exploration. Cover work surface with protective material.

  1. 1

Demonstrate holding the bottle with dominant hand, positioning it over the palette

Show how to support the bottle with non-dominant hand for stability
  2. 2

Press gently to release one small dollop of pink paint onto palette

Count aloud '1, 2, 3' while pressing to establish controlled rhythm
  3. 3

Add small amount of second color beside the pink

Keep colors separate initially so child can observe the distinct hues
  4. 4

Use brush to gradually blend edge where colors meet

Move slowly to allow child to observe the gradual color transformation
  5. 5

Apply mixed color to paper using various brush strokes

Name the strokes: dots, lines, circles to build vocabulary
