100 And 1000 Chains Frame

The 100 and 1000 Chains Frame holds the long bead chains off the floor, so each one hangs straight and a child can take a single chain down without tangling the rest. A chain lifted from the frame goes straight to a mat to be laid out and counted, and it returns to the same hook when the work is finished. Order on the shelf is part of the lesson: a chain that hangs in its own place is a chain that gets used. A child who can fetch and hang back a chain alone counts when the interest is there, instead of waiting for an adult to untangle beads first. Standard storage in the mathematics area from about three years.
