Geometry / Biology Cabinet: Rear Panel (93 cm)
Made by Nienhuis Montessori · shipped by Heutink International (Netherlands) About the maker
A rear panel that mounts to the geometry and biology cabinet to close its back, 93 cm wide. An open backed cabinet standing against a wall is fine; standing free in a room it shows the wall behind every drawer, and the insets lose the plain ground they need to be seen against. Closing the back is also what lets the cabinet be used as a room divider, which is usually why it ended up away from the wall. It mounts without tools beyond the fixings. Plywood with veneer, for ages 3 to 12.
“The senses, being explorers of the world, open the way to knowledge.”
The 93 cm Rear Panel serves as the foundational backdrop for organizing geometric shapes and biology puzzles in the prepared environment.
- Develops spatial awareness through organized material access
- Strengthens visual discrimination by providing consistent backdrop

This wooden panel creates a defined workspace where children can systematically access drawer contents, establishing visual order that mirrors their developing mental organization. The panel's precise height allows children aged 3-6 to view all cabinet levels while maintaining proper posture during material selection. By enclosing the cabinet's rear, this panel prevents materials from sliding backward and creates a contained space where each drawer has its designated place. The natural wood finish of the rear panel provides a calm, neutral background that doesn't compete with the vibrant colors of geometric shapes or detailed biology puzzles. This organizational furniture piece demonstrates how every element in the Montessori environment serves the child's independence by making materials accessible, visible, and beautifully presented.

How to present it
